8 teens hurt in Philadelphia bus stop shooting; police hunt for suspects

Police in Pennsylvania's biggest city are hunting for suspects who shot at least eight high school students as they waited at a bus stop.

Authorities said two of the students are listed in critical condition.

The Philadelphia Police Department released video of the shooting and urged the public to help them identify and track down the shooters. Police said the suspects are armed an dangerous.

Footage shows three males wearing masks get out of a dark blue Hyundai Sonata, run down the street, and start shooting at a group of high school students as they waited at a bus stop Wednesday afternoon.

The video shows people running for safety as the suspects race back to the car. The fourth suspect -- the driver -- then speeds away from the scene.

Police described each of the shooters, noting that they were all males with thin builds.

The shooter sitting in the front passenger seat has a light complexion, said police. He was wearing a black balaclava-style mask with white Nike logos, as well as a long black coat with North Face logos. He had on black pants with a solid white stripe down the sides, as well as black New Balance sneakers with white logos and soles.

The second suspect sitting behind the driver was wearing a black face mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, white socks, black New Balance sneakers with white logos and soles, and blue gloves.

The other passenger in the backseat also had on a black face mask, a black hoodie, black sweatpants, as well as light gray sneakers with with a dark gray design, dark gray soles with yellow on the bottom.

FOX 29 reported that the car was found parked in a dark alley, adding that the shooters removed the temporary paper tag.

Police previously said eight teenagers, who are students at Northeast High School ranged in age from 15 to 17, were hurt. Among them was a 16-year-old who was shot nine times.

John Golden, who is a spokesman for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, also known as SEPTA, told The National Desk gunshots rang out at approximately 3 p.m. He added that a Route 18 Bus and a Route 67 Bus were hit by bullets.

SEPTA Transit Police are reviewing video and assisting Philadelphia Police with the investigation," Golden noted in an email, adding that SEPTA does not have reports of injuries to passengers or employees.

The shooting came just hours after another shooting occurred in the city.

Police said a shootout erupted between a large group of suspects across from the MET Theater shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

Authorities said two people were hurt in the shooting, including a 45-year-old Black man who was listed in critical condition after he was shot in the left eye, as well as a 42-year-old Black man who is in stable condition after he was shot in the right thigh.

Police released video of the shooting, urging anyone who recognizes the suspects or has information about the shooting to contact authorities.

The shootings were among four shootings in Philly in as many days. In total, three people were killed and 12 were hurt.
