Nampa invites community to 57th annual Parade America on May 18

The City of Nampa and Nampa Parade America Committee, Inc. invite the community to the 57th annual Parade America beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18. This year's theme is "Let Freedom Ring," and includes floats, horses, marching bands, antique cars and more.

The Nampa Parade America Committee is accepting parade entries online at nampaparadeamerica.com. The deadline to register is Friday, May 10. The website also includes the parade route and the rules and guidelines for entry.

An official ribbon cutting for the parade will take place at 10:30 a.m. near Dutch Bros. Coffee and a flyover by an A10 plane, courtesy of Gowen Field, will signal the beginning of the parade with a flyover at 11 a.m.

The parade starts at the corner of 12th Avenue Road and Lake Lowell Avenue near Nampa High School. It follows a route on 12th Avenue Road to 7th Street South, to 16th Avenue South, ending near Northwest Nazarene University campus at Holly Street and East Colorado.

This year's grand marshal is a decorated WWII veteran celebrating his 100th birthday this fall, Sgt. Ernie Ferguson.

Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling said, "Parade America is one of Nampa's signature events and an important tradition in our community. I am thankful for the many volunteers working to make this event possible. Parade America is a special time to 'Let Freedom Ring,' honor our great heritage and military members."
